About Me

I’m a physical therapist with over 30 years of experience in physical therapy, manual therapy, and wellness. I’m a graduate of the University of Buffalo with B.S. degrees in both Physical Therapy and in Exercise Science.  I began studying White Crane Tai Chi in 1998 to learn how to improve my patients balance and quickly began to experience firsthand the benefits of blending Western medicine with Eastern healing arts. Chronic pain from a severe cervical spine injury began to fade, while strength, flexibility and endurance increased. Even long-standing allergy and respiratory issues subsided as I learned to allow my breath to deeply nourish my body/mind.

I went on to obtain a black-belt in White Crane Kung Fu, become a Reiki Master and a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Instructor.  I studied Ayurveda - the ancient healing art of yoga - with Dr. Vasant Lad and Sonam Targee, and became a certified instructor in Vishoka Meditation through the Himalayan Institute.

I’m a member of the International Alliance of Health Care Professionals (IAHP) training with The Upledger Institute, The D’Ambrogio Institute and Healing From The Core, and a teaching assistant for the CranioSacral Therapy curriculum. CranioSacral Therapy is the core treatment approach used in my practice, however, I’ll draw from my vast experience when creating your personalized treatment plan.

I’m passionate about using movement as medicine and teach yoga and meditation classes at Ritz Mountain Yoga, volunteer for the Prison Yoga Project at Groveland Correctional Facility, and am the founder of Carrie Ruffner Body Balance LLC. You can find me paddle boarding on Conesus lake, hiking in nature, or enjoying a good book.
